This is a continuation of yesterday’s email about making a splash on YouTube.
How Do You Get a Viewer to Rewatch a Video?
Do you remember YouTube in the 2010’s? Back then if something got 100k views it was considered “viral.”
Videos were watched and shared with friends and that’s all we did. Didn’t matter if you had a good thumbnail or a bad thumbnail.
If your friend sent it to you, you were gonna watch it.
The short answer is this:
The EASIEST Way to Get Someone to Rewatch is to Make Stuff that People WANT to Share.
Here’s a few “Shareable Videos”:
- Funny Skits
- Interesting Stories
- Controversial Topics
- Cat Videos
Yes, literally just get a cat and incorporate them into your content.
Kidding (but am I?)
But I Am an “Educator” and a “Thought Leader”
That’s fine! Some of the BEST videos out there are educational videos centered around EXACT PROCESSES to do something.
I’ve rewatched PewDiePie’s thumbnail tutorial more times than I can count because it’s a genuinely GOOD tutorial on thumbnail creation.
But just because you run through a process step by step doesn’t mean it’s instantly going to get thousands of views.
You have to combine educational alongside something else.
- Educational + Skit
- Educational + Interesting Story
- Educational + Controversial Topics
STOP BEING BORING.
Make stuff that people want to rewatch and share.
And if you do this well enough, you might end up making a big splash on YouTube.
