How to Magically Force People to Stop Scrolling Off of Your Video
So… you clicked on the email.
Why?
Seriously… why did you do it?
Was it because you knew me? Were you confident I would deliver some sort of information to help you?
Or was it because you were intrigued by the subject line?
I’m not sure. It could be a combination of all three.
But the idea is that you clicked. You stayed. You’re reading this.
Anyway, a lot of people talk about “having a good hook” for your videos because that’s the only way to get people to watch your videos.
They are correct… but what IS a good hook? How do you make one? How do you find one?
Let me show you…
How to Make Hooks Appear from Midair
The easiest way to do this is simply KNOWING what the video is going to be before you film it.
A lot of people FILM their video first… and THEN think about the hook later.
That’s wrong.
A hook should be able to encapsulate WHY someone should watch and WHAT the video is about within the first three seconds.
Only way to do that is to know what your video is going to be AND THEN try to personally attack the ideal viewer.
Bad Example: “How to Grow Your TikTok account Using Hashtags”
Good Example: “THIS one bad habit is keeping your videos under 1000 views”
The difference?
Most people could do a google search on the first one and have 100 articles telling them how to do this. The second one pinpoints a PROBLEM the viewer is experiencing and personally attacks their insecurities.
(That’s just for education type content… entertainment is a whole other story…)
What To Do:
The easiest way to learn about how to make a good hook is to do research on:
- YouTube titles
- Thumbnails
- Email Subject Lines
…and then transfer over the info to a hook.
Next time, I’ll share more about how to turn any boring video into a compelling storyline that brainwashes viewers into staying until the end (and even watching the video a second time).
See you then.
