Why I Say What I Say

Why I Say What I Say

Yo!

Welcome to the Short Form Secrets… a newsletter that gets you one step closer to YouTube virality.

Here’s a quick little breakdown of some fun phrases you’ll read in this newsletter:

Shorts - Short Form Video, TikTok, Reels… I will only refer to Short Form video as “Shorts”

Why? - Because I believe the platform with the best use of short form should be the winner. For the longest time it was TikTok… Now It’s YouTube Shorts (Reels never stood a chance imo)

Longs - Horizontal YouTube Videos

AVD - Average View Duration. Meaning, “did someone watch all the way to the end?”

JOOCE (pronounced “Juice”) - This is your special sauce. And I’m not talking about spicy mayo. This is the small twist and X Factor that your video has to help make it stand out among the rest. (I’ll be teaching you how to find this during our time together <3)

Swipe Rate - This is the phrase I use to describe whether or not someone stayed past the hook or not. Some May Call it “CTV” for “Chose to View”

Banger(s) - This is a video that hits over 100k Views

That’s pretty much it for now! I’ll make sure to keep this list updated.

Looking forward to seeing you in the next one!
