Short Form Secrets

The Ultimate Short Form Video Structure

I'm pretty stoked to share this tbh

Did You Think I Forgot About You?

I would never do that!

The past 30 days have been wild for me. In the last month, I’ve received over 5 Million views on my content… ISN’T THAT CRAZY?

How was I able to make these videos that popped off?

  • I’ve easily posted over 1000 videos on TikTok
  • I’ve analyzed the retention on the last 200

You might be asking: “How do I make videos that get more than 200 views?”

Here’s my process:

Noob Mindset: “Just post. Quantity over Quality”

Pro Mindset: “Quantity teaches you Quality”

Packaging your video is often the variable of success… Not how many videos you make.

In an episode with Joe Rogan, Mr. Beast says “You can 10x your viewership if you have a better idea.” But that’s only half the battle…

Here’s EXACTLY how to structure a short form video to maximize results:

  1. Title (First second of video)
  2. Hook (first 3-5 seconds)
  3. Caption (the “bait”)
  4. “Sub-hook” (the promise)
  5. Body (The video)
  6. Call to Action (the ask)

Title

You have one second to convince the viewer to listen to the hook. People can read faster than they can listen, so if they notice that the Title (the text on the video) isn’t interesting, they’re out.

Think of your overall “hook” as a sandwich. The title is the first piece of bread, the hook is the meat, the subhook is the toppings, the caption is the other piece of bread.

With this in mind let’s make it complementary to your hook. Reword your initial hook to fit within 3-5 words. Focus on urgency and curiosity.

Hook

Now we’re finally at creating your hook. My best piece of advice? Copy what works.

Find what other creators have done and adapt it to your content. You want your hook to inspire curiosity and provide tension to the viewer. You want them to feel as if they are about to miss out on a HUGE opportunity if they don’t watch the next 10 seconds.

Caption

Imagine that this is the EXTRA hook that people see right after the main hook. You want to overload the viewer with a feeling of “I have to watch this.”

A good caption should also include some humor that only makes sense if they watched the end of the video.

Subhook

This is the statement RIGHT after your hook. You don’t want to hope that people will listen to the first three seconds and stick…

The next 5-10 seconds should be you sharing the potential RESULTS they could get from watching this video.

Hook says: “Here’s one big mistake every new youtuber makes”

Subhook says: “If you want people to watch all the way through your videos and leave a comment, this is how you do it”

Body

Keep your clips short and snappy. Change your background or location every 2-3 seconds. Keep your sentences short. Stop recording after each sentence and record a new clip for the next one.

Call to Action

Here’s the end of the video. In under 3 seconds, tell them what to do if they want more from you.

BUT ONLY PICK ONE. Don’t ask them to “Like AND Follow.”

One or the other. What I’ve found the best ROI is either “Follow for more” or “Comment what I should discuss next.”

Following gets you a new viewer. Comments give you a new idea for another video.

See you next week
